Walter Eaton Scholarship

Established 1919

Outstanding Male and Female Science Students Shasta Union High School District

This scholarship is one of the oldest scholarships the Shasta Union High School District awards. It was created in 1919 by Edna Eaton in Walter Eaton’s name, Richard’s father, a chemist. The scholarship was originally awarded to the best high school chemistry student. Currently, scholarship candidates are selected through the Shasta Union High School District Community Scholarship Committee, with the Science Department selecting the top two outstanding senior Science students, one male and one female. To receive the award, the students are required to take a tour of the Behrens Eaton House Museum. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 each.
